Dragon Fruit Smoothie

Who doesn’t love a smoothie? Great for breakfast when you’re cutting back on the carbs of cereal and toast, great in summer when you’re screaming out for something cold and refreshing. Easy to make and the combinations are endless.

Lets face it, a smoothie can have anything you like in it. For instance, I am not a huge fan of milk or too much dairy and or dairy replacement items, especially in summer. The below is just a guide to get you started, add whatever you like, remove what you don’t and play with the flavours adjusting to seasonal fruits on hand.

Ingredients
  • • 1 Dragon Fruit – cut (any colour Dragon Fruit will work; I’ve gone with our Blood Red as the colour is stunning and makes you want to tuck in)
    • 2 – 3 Frozen bananas – cut (frozen because this will help make it thick)
    • ½ cup of Berries – your choice mixed, Raspberry, Strawberry, Blue Berries or try some other fruit such as Apple or Watermelon or Mango – whatever fruit you’d like to try, add it here
    • 500ml – 750ml of liquid – I usually go for Coconut Water, but you could use any form of milk or juice you may have on hand or a combination of the above e.g. 250ml coconut water and 250ml of apple juice
    • 1 tablespoon of natural vanilla yoghurt – again optional
Other Optional Ingredients and or mixes
  • • Chia Seeds, Linseeds, Raw Nuts
    • If you haven’t had time to freeze some bananas, then just add some ice to get that frosty coolness in your drink
    • If using White Dragon Fruit, combine this with Kiwi Fruit and Pear or
    • Go Green by adding, Spirulina, Spinach or Kale, these go well with White Dragon Fruit and Pineapple – the combinations are endless you just need to give it a go
Method
  • • Place all the ingredients using into a blender and blend until a smooth consistency is obtained
    • Pour into your glass of choice
    • This quantity usually makes us 2 large glasses, any left over can be stored in the fridge for 24hours
